Music Magazine Project Planning

Just a reminder that you need to respond to the following questions in full by next Wednesday's lesson (November 10th). You also have your Audience Profile to complete - both need to be posted on your blog once they are completed and you have checked them thoroughly!

Please respond to these questions/tasks

1.  Research and find definitions of the following Key Media Concepts – make sure that they’re linked to media studies:

·        Audience

·        Institution

·        Representation

·        Media Language

2.  Why have you chosen to do the Print task rather than the Moving Image task?

3.  Which skills will you need to demonstrate and develop in order to complete this project successfully? Think about technical skills (photography, use of DTP programmes etc.) as well as other personal skills (creativity, organisation, time management etc.).

4.  What interests you about magazines and the magazine industry?

5.  Which genres of music are you interested in?

6.  Which magazines have you researched or are planning to research?

7.  Which genre are you planning to produce your magazine for?

8.  What is your intended target audience?

9.  What is the purpose of your magazine? Which consumer needs will it meet?

10. List your initial ideas for the title of your magazine? Use a thesaurus or dictionary to help you with this. Your title needs to reflect/represent your genre and your audience.

Try to view them with a critical eye, identifying strengths of the final productions and areas in which they may have been improved. The key questions are:

1. Does the final piece resemble an authentic music magazine?
2. Are the codes and conventions of a music magazine present?
3. Is the genre of the magazine clear?
4. Does the magazine have a clear sense of audience?
5. Does the magazine have a consistent and recognisable house-style?

When looking at the blog as a whole:

• Has the candidate clearly demonstrated their planning and the stages of production (photos, feature articles, flat-plans etc.)?

TV Drama (Exam): Useful links and articles

The study of TV Drama makes up half of the G322 exam (the other half concerns Institutions and Audiences). In the exam you will be asked to analyse a sequence from a TV Drama.
